OMEX THROTTLE BODIES AND ECU COMPLETE KIT FOR THE FORD ZETEC BLACK TOP 1.8 2.0 16V

The standard fuel injectors used in this engine have a high enough flow rate to be used with the Omex throttle body kit
Two versions of the kit are available to allow for different installations of this engine
The long kit is mainly used for RWD vehicles where there would normally be sufficient space to fit DCOE carbs and long air horns can be used
The shorter kit is designed with FWD applications in mind to allow for the often short space before the bulkhead.
There are two versions of this engine commonly known as the 'Silvertop' and the 'Blacktop' due to difference in cam cover colours. There are differences in the coolant temperature sensor between these two engines so please state the engine type when ordering
The supplied harness is an Omex specific part design and is constructed to a high quality road standard. It is ready built, allowing the user to simply plug on to the engine components, making a quick and neat installation
The kit is supplied with a map to suit an otherwise standard engine, saving the time and expense of rolling road mapping
The fully mappable OMEM600 Omex ECU allows changes to be made to the engine’s fuelling and ignition should the engine be further modified

We have run a fully forged big valve head Silver Top Zetec engine using this same Omex kit and the dyno figures have shown 228 BHP and 197 FTLB torque and the redline is 8100 rpm.

Note - Throttle linkages and air filters are not supplied with this throttle body kit.

The linkage can be fitted over or under the throttle bodies pulling to the left or right (please enquire)

Air filtration

The long throttle bodies will accept DCOE / DHLA pattern backplate air filters.
‘Sock’ filters can be used where space is tight but they can affect airflow so should be avoided if possible.
The short throttle bodies cannot accept the ‘backplate’ style airfilter, so the

‘sock’ style filters must be used with these throttle bodies

What else will I need?

Extra ECU functions

With optional extra parts the Omex 600 ECU is capable of much more than simply running the engine.

Shift lights

A visual warning for the optimum rpm gearshift. Normally a high intensity 10mm red LED is used, but other sizes and colours are available on request.

Full throttle gearshift

Gearshifts without lifting off the throttle. In the case of sequential gearboxes, even without using the clutch.

Sequential gearboxes often have a switch inbuilt for input to the ECU, and those using a ‘normal’ gearbox can use an Omex clutch switch,

signalling an ignition retard that temporarily reduces engine power output.

Launch control

Consistent fast starts. A button on the steering wheel that gives a temporary lower rev limit holding the engine steady on the startline.

Radiator fan control

Reduce the number of sensors, joins in the cooling system, and have full programmability of the ON / OFF temperatures for the radiator fan.
An additional relay and new coolant temperature sensor are required for this control.
As the standard Zetec temperature sensor is head temperature rather than water temperature, although it is fine for running the engine normally it is not

suitable for running a radiator fan from. Therefore a new coolant temperature sensor is required.
